Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Pedro Bertol kicked off to start the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Estudiantes de la Plata's Pedro Bertol slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 4 minutes of play. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Igor Gilabert sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Estudiantes de la Plata booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Fausto Weterio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Bertol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute, Fulgencio Norino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19th minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fausto Weterio was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de la Plata's Virgílio Bezerra got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Fausto Weterio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play forced Estudiantes de la Plata's goalkeeper Fausto Weterio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 29 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. 34 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Igor Gilabert. 37 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de la Plata's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Fausto Weterio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fausto Weterio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. A collision led to Estudiantes de la Plata getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Sixto Txartiko hit a great ball.

Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fausto Weterio firmly grabbed it by the left post. Igor Gilabert hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. 53 minutes into the game, Pedro Bertol was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Estudiantes de la Plata's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de la Plata's Pedro Bertol got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Fausto Weterio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Weterio having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Fausto Weterio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of Estudiantes de la Plata's Fausto Weterio. Fausto Weterio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Estudiantes de la Plata's Fausto Weterio got control of the ball when Agustín Saelices tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Weterio having to interfere. Estudiantes de la Plata's Marcial Cayo was substituted for Sixto Txartiko. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Pedro Bertol kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 83 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fausto Weterio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Virgílio Bezerra fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Estudiantes de la Plata's protests and gave Virgílio Bezerra a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Estudiantes de la Plata getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Virgílio Bezerra hit a great ball. With 87 minutes on the clock, Primitivo Andino commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fausto Weterio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Estudiantes de la Plata fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
