In the 3rd minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Juvenal Sergipano. CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Célio Fontes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's goalkeeper Juvenal Sergipano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Juvenal Sergipano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Daniel Zorita scored 0-3 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juvenal Sergipano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 25 minutes CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montes to fire away a dangerous shot which Juvenal Sergipano despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 32 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Juvenal Sergipano was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 40th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 42 minutes, Geovânio Galvão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Oswaldo Vergílio kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. In the 45th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juvenal Sergipano skillfully saved the ball. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's Juvenal Sergipano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 57th minute of play. 63 minutes into the game, CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's Lobo Zornoza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. After a defensive mix-up in CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juvenal Sergipano came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Geovânio Galvão kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luis Andino got free with Juvenal Sergipano in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Ecuador's Daniel Zorita, in the 81st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nae Buteanu during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Nae Buteanu hit a great ball. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE made a substitution. José Paulo Almeida replaced Clemente Zanussi. In the 89th minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lobo Zornoza in the 90th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Andino scored 1-6 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juvenal Sergipano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Ecuador booed when CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Paulo Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play.
