The audience thought a goal was coming when Jefferson Medeiros got free with Julio Vera in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Rune Malmström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Rune Malmström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 19th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 20 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Barbaros Sargan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Kwaski Sandomierz's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olgierd Walkowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rune Malmström in the 43rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 50 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kwaski Sandomierz's Barbaros Sargan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Kwaski Sandomierz from getting a goal against them. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Cristian Sancho fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Barbaros Sargan quite easily take care of the ball. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 61 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tạ Bunk was slow to take the kick. During this time Kwaski Sandomierz's players had a chance to rest. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Barbaros Sargan to make any attempt to save it. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barbaros Sargan having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Kwaski Sandomierz's Barbaros Sargan. Barbaros Sargan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Kwaski Sandomierz's Kajetan Malik got a free kick in the 77th minute. Barbaros Sargan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 77th minute. Ecuador's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
