Aristide Vuia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. In the 21st match minute, Dunărea Călăraşi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niculae Ionășescu to maneuver through the defense. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Marius Radovan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Dunărea Călăraşi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aristide Vuia didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Axel Tasis came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Axel Tasis couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd minute, Aaron Alcocer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Gheorghe Gușatu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Moruga to maneuver through the defense. After 47 minutes, Lautaro Puig mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Dunărea Călăraşi players grew even worse after the yellow card. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 56th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Dunărea Călăraşi's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Marius Radovan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marius Radovan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. In the 70th minute, Emil Contra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76thth minute of the game Axel Tasis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dunărea Călăraşi's Marius Radovan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Dunărea Călăraşi booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dunărea Călăraşi made a substitution. Maxim Cismaș replaced Aristide Vuia. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 77th minute. In the 81st minute, Dunărea Călăraşi's Ştefan Petru ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. Ştefan Petru received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Sanz came out and tried to block the shot, but Ştefan Petru slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 84th minute. After a rather tough play, Dunărea Călăraşi's Emil Contra got a free kick in the 87th minute. 93 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Ştefan Petru came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Ştefan Petru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Dunărea Călăraşi played a much better game than Costa Rica and deserved their victory. The Costa Rica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
