Estrela Solitária's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Chicão Amorim in the 19th minute. When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Estrela Solitária's Gerd Müller was substituted for Sandrinho Hoffmann. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamim Dante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Estrela Solitária's Benjamim Dante proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Estrela Solitária from getting a goal against them. In the 63rd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Agustín Saelices was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 74 minutes into the match, Estrela Solitária's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Benjamim Dante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the game, Gerd Müller cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Guilherme Peixoto charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guilherme Peixoto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 80 played minutes Estrela Solitária got a freekick which was hit by Guilherme Peixoto. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gerd Müller in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After 89 minutes, Primitivo Andino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Estrela Solitária players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Estrela Solitária booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dudu Meira scored 3-0 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 93 minutes into the game, Estrela Solitária's Gerd Müller nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. 96 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Gerd Müller came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Estrela Solitária were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
