Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Allan Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 4th minute of the match. Paulo Godoi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Allan Varela guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 34 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Allan Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of the match. After having played for 36 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulo Godoi got free with Julio Vera in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Paulo Godoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Paulo Godoi made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by 吴洲坚 in the 53rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Paulo Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palestra do Interior's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 70th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boyisana Mnisi to maneuver through the defense. Palestra do Interior's Allan Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 71st minute of play. In the 72nd minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Allan Varela was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 76 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Lago came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Allan Varela was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Allan Varela when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Vitório Lago's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Palestra do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Percival Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the match, Vitório Lago notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Palestra do Interior support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
