After having played for 4 minutes, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Noboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Axel Tasis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Nicodim Iacobeanu made a huge save. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alin Teodorescu in the 8th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alin Teodorescu in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Nicodim Iacobeanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of Fc Otelul Galati booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Tasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Florian Penc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicodim Iacobeanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Alin Teodorescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fc Otelul Galati's supporters rose to their feet, but Alin Teodorescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the game, Alin Teodorescu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 40th minute, Gorla Goretzka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Juan Rubio hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant got a free kick in the 61st minute. Bogdan Boerescu missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 63 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Benito Sanz right hand side. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Lars Schuster took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. Florian Penc might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Florian Penc ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alin Teodorescu got free with Benito Sanz in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Alin Teodorescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball. If Florian Penc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute, Fc Otelul Galati's Florian Penc ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. Florian Penc succeeded in the game's 89th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-7. Emanuel Arsenescu charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emanuel Arsenescu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Alin Teodorescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Fc Otelul Galati's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
