Club Puerto Quito's Diego Narbona got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rufino Giron in the 37th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Enzo Gallardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mauricio Precioso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 40th minute of play. 41 minutes in the game Diego Narbona did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Ayoví Costoya. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ayoví Costoya got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jose Correa's late challenge caught a Club Puerto Quito's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jose Correa helped the player get up and apologised. In the 69th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mauricio Precioso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 71st minute.
