The audience thought a goal was coming when Murilo Prestes got free with Julio Vera in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 18 minutes into the match, Ryszard Iwanowski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cléber da Costa in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The SORRISO E. C. players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
