Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caco Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 15th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murilo Prestes in the 16th minute of play. Caco Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montes in the 18th minute. Caco Azevedo was a little too slow when Felix Montes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 1-0. With a little luck, SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 25 minutes SORRISO E. C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Caco Azevedo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Caco Azevedo made a huge save. 28 minutes into the match, SORRISO E. C.'s Murilo Prestes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caco Azevedo having to interfere. Caco Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Amadeu de Mendonça's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amadeu de Mendonça helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when SORRISO E. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeu de Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. SORRISO E. C. were awarded a corner in the 47th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Murilo Prestes took the corner. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Murilo Prestes, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 67th minute of play forced SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Caco Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caco Azevedo having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, SORRISO E. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Caco Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute, Ryszard Iwanowski left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SORRISO E. C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Caco Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 83 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Caco Azevedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
