The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Peru booed when San Lorenzo de Sarandi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Errando didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Lester Serre in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Julian Murillo took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Lester Serre to make any attempt to save it. 13 minutes into the game, Prospero Mergildo threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lorenzo Jerrold in the 17th minute of the match. If Emmanuel Reyes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lorenzo Jerrold in the 27th minute of play. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind San Lorenzo de Sarandi's goalkeeper Lester Serre, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. In the 50th match minute, San Lorenzo de Sarandi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Errando to maneuver through the defense. Lester Serre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 52nd minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Peru fans cheered their team off the field, for while San Lorenzo de Sarandi had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
