Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Axel Tasis made the kick off which started today's match. With an all-out effort, Rothwell Park's Benito Sanz threw himself towards the right post 2 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Walter Mutuku, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Daniel Kiprugut kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. The supporters of Rothwell Park booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Walter Mutuku scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 1-0. Walter Mutuku succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 20th playminute. In the 23rd minute, Walter Mutuku made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. After 29 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Lautaro Puig. In the 33rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Alcocer to maneuver through the defense. 36 minutes into the game, Rothwell Park's Walter Mutuku nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. In the 39th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Githinji Muhoho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Walter Mutuku kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Walter Mutuku to strike the kick off in the second half. Rothwell Park's Daniel Kiprugut managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 51 minute of the game. If Sammy Keino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. After 56 minutes, Alexander Carballo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Rothwell Park players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 56th minute, Alexander Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rothwell Park's Abdallah Ali Bungei was substituted for Elijah Leakey. Alexander Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Mutuku in the 62nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Walter Mutuku stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Walter Mutuku tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Mohamed in the 79th minute of play. In the 81st minute, William Mohamed ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-1. Sammy Keino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Rothwell Park's Tony Githinji Muhoho got control of the ball when Axel Tasis tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Sammy Keino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rothwell Park's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sammy Keino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Kiprugut hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Axel Tasis from long distance, 94 minutes into the match, got Tony Githinji Muhoho's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Costa Rica's Alfredo Zoido was substituted for Eliseo Noboa. Rothwell Park's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
