After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Florentino Dominix kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Deportivo de Coba booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Rafe in the 11th minute of play. After 23 minutes, Alan Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Deportivo de Coba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florentino Dominix in the 46th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 74th minute, Norberto Giro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Florentino Dominix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Norberto Giro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Herminio Nalo during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 84 played minutes Deportivo de Coba got a freekick which was hit by Herminio Nalo. Florentino Dominix recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 93rd play minute Florentino Dominix came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Benito Sanz. 0-3. Deportivo de Coba's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
