But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Espiga couldn't finish the play. Sakarias Bocklund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Sakarias Bocklund stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmundo Espiga's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Christian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 34thth minute of the game Edmundo Espiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SSC Napoli's Sakarias Bocklund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th minute, Jens-Erik Andreasson fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Edmundo Espiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sakarias Bocklund having to interfere. 56 minutes into the game, Sebastian Villa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Sakarias Bocklund was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 64 minutes into the game, Edmundo Espiga cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. In the 87thth minute of the game Edmundo Espiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SSC Napoli's Sakarias Bocklund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Edmundo Espiga came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Honduras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Espiga couldn't finish the play. The Honduras supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Honduras would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
