The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Ubaldo Goyanes sent off a good shot on target. In the 17th minute, Ubaldo Goyanes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rolando Noboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Sporting Angola's Freddy Sein. Freddy Sein was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Luz Tejedor came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luz Tejedor couldn't finish the play. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Freddy Sein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 32nd minute of play forced Sporting Angola's goalkeeper Freddy Sein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Freddy Sein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Freddy Sein made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. In the 75th match minute, Sporting Angola was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tekin Kutlar to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute, Tekin Kutlar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With 82 minutes on the clock, Özbek Savtur commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Tekin Kutlar kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. In the 92nd minute Peru were awarded a corner. Eliseo Mina went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Peru's Eliseo Mina to fire away a dangerous shot which Freddy Sein despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Tomas Gartzen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sporting Angola throughout the match.
