An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of play forced Sportivo Mela Banco's goalkeeper Zeledon Ilazki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Filiberto Sauveur's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-7.

In the 65thth minute of the game Cristian Sancho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sportivo Mela Banco's Zeledon Ilazki was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 67 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-10. Zeledon Ilazki was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 71 minutes in the game Juan Sebastián Puig did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Cristian Sancho. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Zeledon Ilazki. That made the score 0-11 after 72 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zeledon Ilazki breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 79 minutes into the match, Sportivo Mela Banco's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Zeledon Ilazki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sportivo Mela Banco's Zeledon Ilazki proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Sportivo Mela Banco from getting a goal against them. Zeledon Ilazki made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Cristian Sancho scored 0-14 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zeledon Ilazki, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
