The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reynaldo Tino. Reynaldo Tino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcus Östman in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Reynaldo Tino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. 24 minutes into the match, Swindon Sweden FF's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Reynaldo Tino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Swindon Sweden FF's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig to fire away a dangerous shot which Reynaldo Tino despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brian Falck in the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute of the match Swindon Sweden FF got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Brian Falck ran over to the corner to take the kick. Swindon Sweden FF's Marcus Östman got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Reynaldo Tino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 38th minute of play. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Marcus Östman sent off a good shot on target. Swindon Sweden FF's Reynaldo Tino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of play. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Swindon Sweden FF's Sven-Erik Lindberg got a free kick in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcus Östman to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Swindon Sweden FF's Marcus Östman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
