The audience was convinced that Frederico Barros's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. 0-1 became the score in the 23rd minute when Daniel Zorita elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Edgar Iordănescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mariolo's Eufrasio Vall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play. Eufrasio Vall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 40 minutes into the game, when Antonio Arias put in a rough tackle. After 39 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! When the match had been going on for 41 minutes, Mariolo's Lartaun Carrandi got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Julio Vera. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lartaun Carrandi got free with Julio Vera in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 46th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eufrasio Vall was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frederico Barros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luis Andino scored 1-4 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eufrasio Vall, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frederico Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Mariolo's Eufrasio Vall proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Mariolo from getting a goal against them. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Eufrasio Vall made a huge save. After 59 minutes Mariolo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frederico Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lartaun Carrandi in the 62nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 64th minute of play forced Mariolo's goalkeeper Eufrasio Vall to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frederico Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Frederico Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Mariolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillerme Gadea didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute, Frederico Barros made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frederico Barros's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. In the 88th minute Umea Loza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frederico Barros struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mariolo. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mariolo.
