The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Ke Kun in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgar Miodek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing The Punisher to leave the ground with a draw.
