Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Venezuela's Tomas Illescas started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jonathan Venegas the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Venezuela protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jonathan Venegas had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 38th minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cesar Rioja in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Geo-Winner booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesar Rioja, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
