Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wang Cheng Xiang in the 9th minute of play. Victor Erauso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 18th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Erauso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Victor Erauso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
52 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Wang Cheng Xiang came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Co Bayo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wang Cheng Xiang in the 64th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Co Bayo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Co Bayo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alijilán returns made a substitution. Sly Noble replaced Kieth Van Damme. Wang Cheng Xiang scored 2-0 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 75th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Victor Erauso was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 79th minute, Cipriano Tavio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th match minute, Alijilán returns was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cipriano Tavio to maneuver through the defense. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saul Iruinea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Genaro Oso hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wang Cheng Xiang in the 94th minute of play. 94 minutes in the game, Wang Cheng Xiang dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Alijilán returns had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
