After a rather tough play, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Stasio Bienienda got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Ecuador:s Julio Vera showed great skill when he stopped Stasio Bienienda:s penalty. 44 minutes into the match, Stasio Bienienda had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stasio Bienienda was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Ivan Chiuzbaian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Felix Montenegro's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ivan Chiuzbaian firmly grabbed it by the left post. The audience was convinced that Zhao Sen Yang's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 56th minute of the game.
