When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Moritz Riemer sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. 34 minutes into the match, THB Herrenalb's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but Willi Wolters reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute, Florian Scheider hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

THB Herrenalb's Zacharias Schöbel was substituted for Heinz Schultheiss. THB Herrenalb's Lutz Holtzmann was substituted for Moritz Riemer. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lutz Holtzmann to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to THB Herrenalb getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. In the 70th minute Lautaro Puig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Willi Wolters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. THB Herrenalb made a substitution. Arne Stern replaced Ignatius Tilmann. The supporters of THB Herrenalb booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant got a free kick in the 85th minute. Lutz Holtzmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Lutz Holtzmann tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match was over THB Herrenalb could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Costa Rica throughout the match.
