After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Luís Guilherme Marques quite easily take care of the ball. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Fagondo Vasquez sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 54 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Fagondo Vasquez came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Luís Guilherme Marques didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 72nd minute Eusébio Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The nice shot from Cristian Sancho in the 75thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Luís Guilherme Marques had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita's late challenge caught a BRASIL.Sp's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Zorita helped the player get up and apologised. Romeu Trigo kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
