After 3 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Luz Tejedor. Luiz Fábio de Medeiros's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Fábio de Medeiros helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Penha in the 17th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Edu Vaz hit a great ball. In the 30th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickaël Maris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laércio Penha might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rolando Noboa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laércio Penha ran back to his position shaking his head. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luz Tejedor in the 41st minute of the match. Eliseo Mina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Mickaël Maris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laércio Penha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Heitor Ferreira hit a great ball. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 54th minute of play. With his leg Mickaël Maris managed to avoid a goal in the 57thth minute, when Peru's Julian Murillo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 60 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Mickaël Maris made an important save on a dangerous shot by Milagros Fraga in the 62nd minute. Manfredo Vale charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manfredo Vale the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Manfredo Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mickaël Maris read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Laércio Penha went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. With a little luck, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris got control of the ball when Rafael Gallo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Manfredo Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Rafael Gallo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mickaël Maris read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Mickaël Maris stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafael Gallo's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Rafael Gallo did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Mickaël Maris 94 minutes into the match. Nova Iguaçu MZFC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Peru had controlled the match.
