Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Téo Savion started the match with the kick off. When Téo Savion came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Olympique Fribourg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Téo Savion couldn't finish the play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Medero Gadea in the 6th minute of play. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Fred Stutz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. When Guillermo Mariano fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Guillermo Mariano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Guillermo Mariano hit a great ball. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Téo Savion received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Téo Savion slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 18th minute. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Camilo Gaos hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Tomas Illescas sped through Olympique Fribourg's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Patrick Knechtli. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raik Topuz in the 31st minute. Edoardo Oroni got a throw-in 34 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Salomo Montandon. Salomo Montandon hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Patricio Costa took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Patrick Knechtli. Patrick Knechtli dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos got a free kick in the 45th minute. A collision led to Olympique Fribourg getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Edoardo Oroni hit a great ball. Patrick Knechtli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 49th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Téo Savion stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Téo Savion tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Patrick Knechtli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. 69 minutes into the match, Olympique Fribourg's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Patrick Knechtli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 71 minutes, Medero Gadea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olympique Fribourg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Medero Gadea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 72 minutes of play, Olympique Fribourg's Raik Topuz made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Medero Gadea in the 82nd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after Olympique Fribourg's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomas Illescas took the corner. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 89thth minute tested the skills of Patrick Knechtli when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Patrick Knechtli made a huge save.
