Venezuela's Patricio Costa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Edoardo Oroni in the 19 minute of the game. Tomas Illescas hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 23rd minute by Téo Savion got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 28 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Patrick Knechtli narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Herve Muller took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Téo Savion got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Téo Savion to make the kick off. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Savion in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Téo Savion in the 67th minute of the match. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. 81 minutes into the game, Téo Savion cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Edoardo Oroni got a throw-in 84 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Salomo Montandon. After 87 minutes, Patricio Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the Olympique Fribourg players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 87th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd minute, Medero Gadea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1.
