With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mickaël Maris prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Valdo de Queirós hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Edward Mcdonald could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Mickaël Maris made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Edward Mcdonald kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mickaël Maris. That made the score 1-0 in the 17 minute of play. With a little luck, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris got control of the ball when Cassius Byrne tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Manfredo Vale hit a great ball. Mickaël Maris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th minute Laércio Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Monty Rogers in the 31st minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Laércio Penha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marco Day was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 37 minutes into the match, Laércio Penha notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of USA's Marco Day. Marco Day was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Ödön Zsinka got a free kick in the 40th minute. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Mcdonald in the 43rd minute of play. Valdo de Queirós tried in the game's 44th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Mickaël Maris. An annoying self made goal, 2-2. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laércio Penha to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Cassius Byrne had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mickaël Maris. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cassius Byrne was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Monty Rogers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mickaël Maris having to interfere. Laércio Penha might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marco Day. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laércio Penha ran back to his position shaking his head. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Mickaël Maris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner went over the outstretched arms of USA's goalie and right to Laércio Penha. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. USA's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Cassius Byrne's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mickaël Maris read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Diego Bradley made in the 69th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Jenson Smith. Ödön Zsinka kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Mcdonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. When Edu Vaz fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nova Iguaçu MZFC's protests and gave Edu Vaz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 76th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Vaz to maneuver through the defense. USA made a substitution. Khalid Parry replaced Monty Rogers. In the 77th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Vaz to maneuver through the defense. Jenson Smith made in the 82nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Khalid Parry immediately put the ball in play. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Khalid Parry in the 85th minute of play. Mickaël Maris didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marco Baker went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. 96 minutes into the match, Khalid Parry notched a goal, 5-2, to the right of Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris. Mickaël Maris was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. USA walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
