After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cecil Balla quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vladimir Stengert got free with Julio Vera in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cecil Balla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 13th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cecil Balla made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. RB Leipzig's Cecil Balla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play. In the 27th minute, Godo Schirp made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. In the 30th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cecil Balla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felix Montes made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that RB Leipzig's Cecil Balla managed to reach the ball for a save. Cecil Balla came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Felix Montes. But to his dismay, Felix Montes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Cecil Balla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Godo Schirp recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46th minute, Friedrich Hölderlin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Godo Schirp stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. RB Leipzig were awarded a corner in the 60th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Friedrich Hölderlin took the corner. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, RB Leipzig's Cecil Balla got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 67 played minutes RB Leipzig got a freekick which was hit by Zarando Ruis. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
