With his leg Rolando Noboa managed to avoid a goal in the 6thth minute, when Guararapes's Vinicio Bermudo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Romeu Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After some careless play in the Guararapes defense, Eliseo Mina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Romeu Guedes. The Guararapes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Romeu Guedes should have stopped the shot. In the 16th play minute Vinicio Bermudo came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Rolando Noboa. 1-1. Carter Monticelli's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carter Monticelli helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Guararapes getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Carter Monticelli hit a great ball. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Cordoba was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2.
