Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. The Runa United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Matthias Lundin tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 41st minute of play forced Runa United's goalkeeper Nils-Erik Åhlberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute Ted Almstedt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Runa United's Matthias Lundin to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Runa United's goalkeeper Nils-Erik Åhlberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harry Boumans in the 78th minute of the match. Nils-Erik Åhlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Runa United's goalkeeper Nils-Erik Åhlberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bo Eriksson in the 82nd minute of the match.
