Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dane Friebe in the 10th minute of play. Gärsnäs BF's Dane Friebe got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A very good chance. 34 minutes into the match, Frederick Griscti had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Frederick Griscti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. A collision led to Gärsnäs BF getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Dane Friebe hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Hägglund in the 43rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Gärsnäs BF's George Hägglund got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 65th minute, Gärsnäs BF's George Hägglund dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. 68 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frederick Griscti. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dane Friebe, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 74th minute Dane Friebe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 74th minute, when Dane Friebe scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 0-7. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dane Friebe in the 82nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Axel Tasis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Tasis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wang Cheng breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 97th minute Dane Friebe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
