When Cullan Dimson fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Hector Covarrubias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Pat Walker made a huge save. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cullan Dimson in the 39th minute of the match. Ailill Ryan's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ailill Ryan helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Dhún na nGall™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ailill Ryan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Irwin Keegan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1.
