The audience thought a goal was coming when 余义桑 got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Colombia getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Santino Seco hit a great ball. When Severino Mitxel came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the 上海江南长兴造船农民工联队 fans jumped to their feet. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anastasio Ponce prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Colombia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Severino Mitxel ran over to the corner to take the kick. If 余义桑 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Ignacio Mastache managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colombia's supporters rose to their feet, but Ignacio Mastache was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anastasio Ponce breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Colombia supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Colombia would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
