In the 13th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Cöpacabana FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chico Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dagoberto Loureiro having to interfere. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dobromir Brudnicki's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stig-Åke Benet in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Cöpacabana FC had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
