The crowd rose to their feet as Witalis Wolicki kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-0 in the 3 minute of play. Camilo Gaos hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 庞昂迪 in the 10th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Frank McLintock made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After 20 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Witalis Wolicki who took care of the corner kick. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 庞昂迪 in the 22nd minute of play. Witalis Wolicki took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Witalis Wolicki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Witalis Wolicki got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 41st minute of the game 蔡振岩 made a throw-in which Wendell Wipp played forward. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 罗风远 having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Witalis Wolicki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 47 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Witalis Wolicki sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

王邦卫's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. 王邦卫 helped the player get up and apologised. A well-hit corner resulted in Salvador Gisbert heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 61st minute, Rigoberto Mina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. 罗风远 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 上海浦东戈士队 made a substitution. 杨浩铮 replaced 赵勇林. Guillermo Mariano charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guillermo Mariano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of 上海浦东戈士队 booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Witalis Wolicki came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the 上海浦东戈士队 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Witalis Wolicki couldn't finish the play. 庞昂迪 struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for 上海浦东戈士队. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Witalis Wolicki kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Tomas Illescas kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. 上海浦东戈士队's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
