Mike Zoetmulder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 4th minute of play. A collision led to De Pelgrims getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Mathias de Ruijter hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 10th minute of play forced De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. De Pelgrims's Mike Zoetmulder played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 12th minute of play. 12 minutes into the game, Peru's Julian Murillo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mike Zoetmulder made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 16th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Zoetmulder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julian Murillo scored 0-2 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mike Zoetmulder, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. De Pelgrims's Mike Zoetmulder played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 21st minute of play. With his leg Rolando Noboa managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when De Pelgrims's Mathias de Ruijter fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Eliseo Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Julian Murillo might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mike Zoetmulder. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 46th minute, one of De Pelgrims:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for De Pelgrims. After a long run with the ball, Luz Tejedor did a trick in the 48th minute in front of De Pelgrims's goalkeeper, who threw himself to the side. After that it was simple to shoot 0-4. An impressive performance by Peru's Luz Tejedor! After the first half Peru were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Perivaldo Eger was the one to do the kick off. Mike Zoetmulder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mike Zoetmulder made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luz Tejedor in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Mike Zoetmulder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peru's Luz Tejedor managed to work through De Pelgrims's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Luz Tejedor dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Perivaldo Eger in the 66th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luz Tejedor got free with Mike Zoetmulder in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Peru were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after De Pelgrims's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. In the 72nd match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milagros Fraga to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mathias de Ruijter in the 80th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luz Tejedor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike Zoetmulder having to interfere. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Perivaldo Eger, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. De Pelgrims's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fu Peng Feng in the 95th minute. Peru's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
