In the 54th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efraim Gilabert to maneuver through the defense. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Lothar Heber got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 64th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Hertha 1969 had won after a very even match.
