The audience was convinced that Alex Dijoux's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Clark Kent tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Pape Lillo fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zorros del Desierto's protests and gave Pape Lillo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 35th match minute, Zorros del Desierto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pape Lillo to maneuver through the defense. In the 37th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alex Dijoux fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pape Lillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. When Allan Silm fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zorros del Desierto's protests and gave Allan Silm a yellow card for diving instead. In the 54th minute, Allan Silm hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 57 minutes into the match, Zorros del Desierto's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Clark Kent reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 67 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. Clark Kent took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of play forced Zorros del Desierto's goalkeeper Clark Kent to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pape Lillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save.
