The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Deportivo Mandiyu's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelian Zogreanu came free, but Roque Narvaja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leontin Ilieș showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roberto Cherro, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 8th minute, Roberto Cherro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leontin Ilieș didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rodrigo Palacios went, in the 10th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Rodrigo Palacios could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Leontin Ilieș made a huge save. In the 14th match minute, Deportivo Mandiyu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto Cherro to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute, Roberto Cherro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Deportivo Mandiyu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Leontin Ilieș made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Cherro in the 18th minute of play. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Leontin Ilieș, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Deportivo Mandiyu's Roque Narvaja played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iván Zamorano in the 25th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Roberto Cherro made a precise shot to the right of Leontin Ilieș. Ninjas in Pyjamas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. After 34 minutes Ninjas in Pyjamas's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Abelardo Magallanes who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Abelardo Magallanes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Leontin Ilieș quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 35th minute, Kurt Klemensson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roberto Cherro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Leontin Ilieș came out and tried to block the shot, but Roberto Cherro slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 37th minute. The supporters of Ninjas in Pyjamas booed when Deportivo Mandiyu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafin Caitano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roque Narvaja showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelian Zogreanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Leontin Ilieș took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roberto Cherro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The attack was good, but when Roberto Cherro in the 44th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
If Aurelian Zogreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58thth minute of the game Roberto Cherro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ninjas in Pyjamas's Leontin Ilieș was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leontin Ilieș showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Cherro in the 60th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Ninjas in Pyjamas's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Palacios came free, but Leontin Ilieș reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leontin Ilieș showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Cherro in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Aurelian Zogreanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roque Narvaja saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 74 played minutes Deportivo Mandiyu got a freekick which was hit by Baldomero Rufo. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Leontin Ilieș, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Leontin Ilieș came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Mandiyu's Chiquito Benítez. But to his dismay, Chiquito Benítez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chiquito Benítez in the 94th minute of play forced Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Leontin Ilieș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ninjas in Pyjamas's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
