Zé Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. After having played for 38 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 78 played minutes Sumaré Sport Club got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Brun. Primitivo Andino made in the 80th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Felix Montenegro. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Richard Fontes having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richard Fontes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
