Spectators: 50 (Terracing: 38, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1) Manchester United FC's Valdemar Kuoppala started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Valdemar Kuoppala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. In the 12th minute, Valdemar Kuoppala reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play forced Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edwin van der Sar didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Manchester United FC defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edwin van der Sar. The Manchester United FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edwin van der Sar should have stopped the shot. 45 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valdemar Kuoppala.

The referee showed Luis Andino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 74th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Andino to maneuver through the defense. 75 minutes into the match, Taisto Pentsinen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Taisto Pentsinen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3. With a little luck, Manchester United FC's Edwin van der Sar got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Edwin van der Sar, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 81st minute, Eero Uusipaavalniemi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 82nd minute, Manchester United FC's Rio Ferdinand seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Rio Ferdinand the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Manchester United FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rio Ferdinand had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 83 played minutes Manchester United FC got a freekick which was hit by Rio Ferdinand. In the 84th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 97th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Agustín Saelices to fire away a dangerous shot which Edwin van der Sar despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
