An unexpectedly hard shot by Milagros Fraga in the 9th minute of play forced Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Jon Iruegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. Emmanuel Reyes got a throw-in 14 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Milagros Fraga. The supporters of Sporting Cristal booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon Iruegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julian Murillo scored 0-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jon Iruegas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernanco Peso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes into the game, Frank Tassotti threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Milagros Fraga quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 33 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernanco Peso. After 35 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jon Iruegas was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Peru booed when Sporting Cristal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Julian Murillo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Jon Iruegas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 59th minute, Cazimir Gogea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Peru booed when Sporting Cristal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cazimir Gogea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jon Iruegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernanco Peso in the 71st minute of play. In the 76th minute of the match, Julian Murillo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jon Iruegas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. A collision led to Sporting Cristal getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Cazimir Gogea hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Rafael Gallo took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Jon Iruegas to make any attempt to save it. When the final whistle sounded Peru left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sporting Cristal.
