Leandro Paredes did an outstanding performance 35 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 1-0 to the right of an irritated Thiago Pliego in the goal. 39 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Lion Messi came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dibag Martinez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ángel-Fabián Di María got free with Thiago Pliego in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Thiago Pliego dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After some careless play in the Chile defense, Lion Messi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thiago Pliego. The Chile fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thiago Pliego should have stopped the shot. La Scaloneta's Julián Álvarez was substituted for Lion Messi. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dibag Martinez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. 75 minutes into the game, Mariano Lacasa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dibag Martinez. Mariano Lacasa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2. 78 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dibag Martinez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julián Álvarez in the 83rd minute of play. Dibag Martinez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dibag Martinez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Dibag Martinez didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 91st minute, which inside left pole to 3-3. Chile were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
