Spectators: 49 (Terracing: 38, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Edwin van der Sar in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Valdemar Kuoppala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edwin van der Sar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 14th minute. In the 16th match minute, Manchester United FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eero Uusipaavalniemi to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Manchester United FC's Edwin van der Sar got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edwin van der Sar made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Gary Neville hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Davide Beckham came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th match minute, Manchester United FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Davide Beckham to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Manchester United FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 0-1 became the score in the 42nd minute when Valdemar Kuoppala elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Taisto Pentsinen in the 45th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valdemar Kuoppala to make the kick off. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Edwin van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 55th minute of play. Edwin van der Sar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Manchester United FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Edwin van der Sar quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 58th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Taisto Pentsinen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Taisto Pentsinen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 61 minutes into the game, Manchester United FC's Valdemar Kuoppala nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 64th minute Taisto Pentsinen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Manchester United FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Eero Uusipaavalniemi hit a great ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Manchester United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eero Uusipaavalniemi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. In the 79th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Taisto Pentsinen fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Edwin van der Sar came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pietari Puhakainen in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pietari Puhakainen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The Ecuador supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Manchester United FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Manchester United FC.
