Elano Reis took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lautaro Navarro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 43rd minute of play forced S.C. Reis United's goalkeeper João Paulo Urbano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Christian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Henrique Trigo's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henrique Trigo helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Honduras booed when S.C. Reis United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 93rd minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Paulo Urbano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
