Despite this Lionel Van Den Broek quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 20 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lionel Van Den Broek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lionel Van Den Broek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Rolf Huveneers came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of De Keikoppers booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Carballar didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sem De Kelper in the 34th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lionel Van Den Broek made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guillermo Fontirroig in the 38th minute. The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lionel Van Den Broek was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. But to his dismay, Rolf Huveneers quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gerardo Pozo during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 77 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Chile! Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lionel Van Den Broek having to make a save. Lionel Van Den Broek was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. De Keikoppers's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
