An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodney Hagen in the 23rd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliseo Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. 32 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Ósvaldsson came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Efraim Gilabert kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 67 minutes, Joaquin Prats mouthed his way into the referee's book.
