Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lázaro Chap, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Lázaro Chap kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. In the 27th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guaberto Cucao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Camilo Gaos kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Silvano Tiadoro struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mainumby. Tomas Illescas kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After the first half Mainumby were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Mainumby's Ezequiel Sugoi was substituted for Dante Sidro. Mainumby made a substitution. Victor Gelmiro replaced David Isusko. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lázaro Chap to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 54th minute of play forced Mainumby's goalkeeper Guaberto Cucao to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 58 played minutes Mainumby got a freekick which was hit by Victor Gelmiro. In the 59th minute of the match Tomas Illescas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Guaberto Cucao skillfully saved the ball. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Guaberto Cucao tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Guaberto Cucao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 82nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guaberto Cucao saved Mainumby from getting behind. In the 85th minute, Patricio Costa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Guaberto Cucao didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Patricio Costa went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
