Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. A hard shot by Menios Balarinas from long distance, 19 minutes into the match, got Julio Vera's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After 21 played minutes Emürspor got a freekick which was hit by Wofgang Rogatty. Emürspor's Ubelteso Fontiveros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 29th minute of play. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Ubelteso Fontiveros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Emürspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Augusto Damião didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
